Turchi Foundation

Toni Turchi
Toni TurchiFounder & CEO
Toni Launched the Toni Turchi Foundation in 2012, following a diagnosis/treatment of triple-negative breast cancer.  She endured five (5) months of chemo, a double mastectomy, and thirty-six (36) rounds of radiation. She’s worked extensively raising funds for Cleveland Clinic’s Learner Research Institute. Today, much of Toni’s time is spent researching the importance of life-style change and how it can use the mind-body connection to a cancer patient’s advantage to enhance both mental and physical health. She serves as a patient advocate for newly-diagnosed women/men with breast cancer and her mission is to aid and inspire hope for women affected by breast cancer. Toni refers to herself as “NED” – No Evidence of Disease, and takes nothing and no one for granted.

Toni is responsible for the operations, management, administration, and the grant making decisions for the TTF.  Most importantly, she is accountable to the people it serves, to its funders, the attorney general, and the general public.

A Teacher’s Journey…“I was impressed by how easy the reading could be for such a hard topic. This book is full of hope, success stories, and faith in God. It is an example of how to ride a very tumultuous wave that touches so many of our lives and stay dry. It also includes foods that reduce the side effects of aromatase inhibitors and those that enhance the effectiveness of it and those you shouldn’t touch during the treatment. Also mentioned are the vitamins that may help with the side effects of chemo. Even children will benefit from this book, with the supervision of an adult.”

Vincent K. Tuohy, Ph.D.
Vincent K. Tuohy, Ph.D.Professor, Department of Molecular Medicine, Lerner College of Medicine
Dr. Tuohy has had a long history of research on understanding the autoimmune mechanisms involved in tissue-specific destruction. His most recent work has focused on harnessing the full strength of autoimmune tissue destruction to generate a novel breast cancer vaccine designed to provide safe and effective primary prevention of triple negative breast cancer, the most lethal of all breast malignancies. He has used a similar strategy to develop another vaccine designed to prevent epithelial ovarian carcinoma, the most lethal of all human gynecologic malignancies. Clinical trials are planned to determine the dosage and safety of these vaccines and ultimately the efficacy of these vaccines in preventing these adult onset cancers.

Prevention is the Cure”

Dr. Kathleen Ruddy, MD
Dr. Kathleen Ruddy, MDBreast Cancer Surgeon
Dr. Ruddy’s commitment to helping women with breast cancer began early in her medical career, when her own mother was diagnosed with the disease. After completing her surgical residency as Chief Resident in 1994, Dr. Ruddy was chosen as the first Fellow on the Breast Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. The following year, Cancer Treatment Centers of America recruited her to establish the Breast Service at the Clara Mass Medical Center, where she has since cared for more than 6,000 patients while conducting research and initiating projects that focus on how best to deal with the growing epidemic of breast cancer—by trying to understand its causes, rather than focusing exclusively on its cures, with the goal of preventing the disease.
